The body, in its infinite wisdom, knows its own way back to wholeness
Our bodies are always communicating to us. They tell us when we are hungry, thirsty or tired. Many of us can hear these more obvious messages but what would it be like if we really, deeply listened? We would find that the body knows far more than we think, has wisdom even.
Focusing is a gentle practice of listening to this deeper knowing within us. It gets beneath our usual stories and self analysis to a place that knows its own way to healing and wholeness. Through learning to rest our awareness in the body we begin to see that it has something new to say about our lives. Through turning towards and embracing our experience, with curiosity and openness, what is stuck can become free, what needs to be heard can be heard, and what needs to unfold can unfold.
Focusing can be used with many other practices – such as bodywork, meditation and talking therapies. It can help with resolving old emotional patterns, making decisions or simply as a way or being more in touch with ourselves.
