Going deeper

Once you have learnt the basics of Focusing and Listening through me or another teacher, you can go deeper with your practice by completing the Focusing Skills course. This course is a thorough training in Focusing and Listening and is completed by taking any introductory workshop plus workshops 2-5 listed below (they are also known as called the BFA Focusing Skills course). These are a pre requisite if you want to train in Focusing professionally.

Each weekend has a central theme and, like the introductory workshops, there is a mixture of practice, teaching and informal discussion. Discounts are available for those booking the whole series of follow-on workshops.

On these workshops you will learn how to:
  • Listen with sensitivity and subtlety
  • Support the Focuser in difficult places
  • Listen to how the body “speaks”
  • Give suggestions and reminders to your Focuser
  • Find out where change and forward movement come from
  • Be with difficult and tangled issues
  • Be with critical and judgmental voices
  • Develop space for wholeness, healing and integration

The interconnected body: Exploring interconnectedness through Focusing
Venue: Fulcrum House, 3 Grove Road, Redland, Bristol. BS6 6UJ
Times: 10am–5pm Saturday, 10am-4.30pm Sunday.
Costs: £130
Your physically-felt body is, in fact, part of a gigantic system of here and other places, now and other times, you and other people, in fact the whole universe. This sense of being bodily alive in a vast system is the body as it is felt from inside.

When we pay attention to what is alive in us, we don't just feel what's "our stuff" :- our feelings and troubles. We feel is what it is like to be alive in this world right now... and the scope of this is vast. We can sense connections to our larger world, and the issues it faces. We might sense a connection to nature. We might feel a connection to our ancestors and cultural history.
On this experiential weekend we will explore both how to access this bigger connectedness, some of the obstacles on the way and some of the themes we will encounter when we do:

Connections to nature and the web of life
Connections to the calling of the world
Connections to deeper values and callings
Connections to our ancestors and unresolved trauma

Open to any with at least one weekends experience of Focusing and listening
